The „Hotel Castell“ lies in Zuoz, Switzerland, and combines architecture from the early 20. century with modern art. The archtectural style is called „Heimatstil“, using regional and traditional designs as well as local materials and handicrafts. The hotel was built during the economical boom of Engadine tourism, however, the hotel also went through some bad times during the last decades.
The famous artist Pipilotti Rist designed the bar in form of a questionmark in 1998, and the architecture offices Ruch (St. Moritz) and UN Studio (Amsterdam) designed and furnished the hotel rooms.
But there is more to explore. The whole hotel is converted into a big contemporary art gallery, the hallways are full of photography and sculptures of artists like Martin Kippenberger, James Turell, Roman Signer, Erwin Wurm and much more.
Inside the hotel

Hier findest du all meine Erinnerungen. Schön, dass du vorbei schaust!
